The Boot Camp military style of fitness training is very big at the moment with residential and non-residential courses springing up all over. The appeal of these seems to be that most of us lack a bit, or a lot, of will power when it comes to making ourselves do regular exercise, no matter how good we know it is for our health. We like someone to get us up and get us moving and who better to do this but two ex British Army Soldiers.
My friends and colleagues Robert “Boris” Stone and Chris “Billy” Smart, (you can tell they're ex-army can't you, over 30 years between them), have been running residential fitness boot camps, military style, for some time. For I don't know how long, I have been trying to get Boris, a fully qualified fitness instructor and personal trainer, to partner with me to put his special form of training routines online. Luckily our mutual friend and now Boris' assistant residential boot camp trainer, Chris Smart, saw the potential for online courses and Boris was persuaded to give it a go. His enthusiasm for the idea, now the first course is nearly complete, is equal to or surpasses our own.
Boris sees the potential for online fitness courses to complement his personal training business, Outragiously Active, giving those that have attended a live boot camp a chance to keep their training going with solid routines in video, audio and workbook form. Not only this, the Internet means anyone, anywhere, can now join in the fun of the Boot Camp training run by “Boris” and “Billy” in military style, whether you have attended a “live” boot camp or not.
The sessions give clear instruction and demonstration for you to watch on computer, iPod, iPad or even phone. So you can take the videos with you or watch and practice at home then take a training sheet out with you to remind you what to do and track your progress.
One of the main points Boris is keen to get across in the training is to get outside, whatever the weather, you don't need expensive gym memberships or home equipment. You'll see Boris and Billy using trees and park benches for exercises and if equipment is suggested it is cheap and easily available or a no equipment alternative exercise is shown.
We're all working hard to get the first course up on the website www.bootcamptrainingonline.com but in the meantime we are offering 2 free boot camp workout videos for just visiting the site and registering your interest in the upcoming courses by giving your email. No obligation at all.
The 2 free videos are based on the warm-up and cool-down routines that Boris and Billy teach on the residential boot camps, however they can be used as short workout routines in their own right for those short on time. They're free with our compliments.
